Virtue’s team of approachable and experienced Consultants service recruitment relationships using a 360 degree approach,
so if an employer is seeking the right person for their business or a candidate’s looking for their next career step,
they will deal with one contact point throughout the recruitment process.
Every Consultant is supported by a
team network ensuring full access to our resources, combined with the consistency of personalised relationship strategy.
This approach can be a major point of difference in the market. Virtue understands how important it is for people
to make informed decisions around employment, so whether it’s a permanent or temporary position,
we’re dedicated to helping people find the right opportunity within the right culture fit to help their career to new heights.
About Chris
I've been consulting in recruitment
since 1986 mainly across the New Zealand and Australian finance and banking markets –
so helping people and companies make the right employment decisions has
been a huge focus for the majority of my career.
I enjoy what I do
because "everyone wins" in a successful job placement. The company is happy
because they've got an excellent new employee and the candidate is happy
because they've got a great new job!
I've chosen to concentrate
on the financial markets over many years to build up specialist knowledge,
relationships and networks that can really make a difference
with service levels during the recruitment process. People appreciate
talking to a specialist recruiter who understands their market
and who can add value by offering them genuine knowledge and career advice.
With due respect to the "mass market" and "big brand" recruitment companies,
I prefer to work in a more informal and relaxed environment, where I can concentrate
on giving professional, informed and personal service to my clients and candidates
and where I can "work hard and play hard" without worrying about politics, red tape,
bureaucracy or career ego's.
When away from work I enjoy getting out
on the water especially overnight trips to Great Barrier or similar "get away from it all" locations.
With a love for good food and wine, I have to compensate in recent times by
getting to the gym regularly to try to keep in some sort of shape…I've also been
known to hit the golf course and although broken 80 on a few occasions – the
quality of my golf can only be generously described as variable...
I'm happy to
talk to anyone who needs career advice on any aspect of recruitment in the financial
sector – just pick up the phone and give me a call or send me an email.
About Nancy
Joining Virtue in 2005 was like going home! I worked for chris originally for 3 years in the temp/contracting space
when he owned Recruitment Solutions. The opportunity to set up the Temp area from scratch for Virtue, re-visiting
old clients and candidates, plus developing new business was exciting. I was also able to team up with Recruiters
I had worked with before in a personal, true boutique culture which suits me perfectly.
Let's just say that patience would not be noted as a prominent strength of mine and therefore Temp Recruitment
with it's fast pace suits my personality. After 10 years in recruitment, 8 of which have been working with Chris,
I still love the interaction with clients and candidates alike. There is genuine satisfaction in placing a great
candidate into a role they love and ensuring that the client's requirements are met and they are equally satisfied and happy.
Over time, candidates become clients and vice versa. Due to relationships developed through trust
and respect over time, assisting the transition is extremely rewarding.
On a personal note, I enjoy socialising with friends and family, travel,
an exercise regime that definitely needs some effort and
ongoing improvements to my house and garden.
About Penny
I joined Virtue in July 2008, having had 6 years recruitment
experience across a variety of sectors including engineering,
supply chain, manufacturing and health. With 4 of those years
spent recruiting overseas candidates into New Zealand and having
moved here myself from the UK 14 years ago, I’m usually the one
that everyone asks about the logistics and reality of moving to NZ!
Prior to moving into recruitment, I had a variety of roles including PA
and office/practice management but started my working life as a Nurse! I love
my role at Virtue because I have the opportunity to combine my payroll and
finance skills with recruiting for permanent and temporary roles. I am also
surrounded by like-minded people who believe in an ethical, professional
approach to recruitment and who treat each person as unique. We work hard
and there’s never a dull moment, but we really enjoy what we do and have
a lot of fun doing it!
In my spare time I can be found hoisting sails on our small yacht en route
to one of the many glorious bays around the Hauraki Gulf, or jogging
(possibly more like shuffling) round the streets as I try to keep fit!
About Linda
I have over 8 years experience recruiting for the Banking/Finance market.
My strengths include the ability to build strategic relationships
with HR and Key Line Managers; ensuring a high level of service and
understanding of their Business Units. I am very professional in my
dealings and have an innate ability to obtain a clear understanding
of a client’s needs and offer advice where required to improve the
organisations ultimate outcome.
I have recruited positions across the board from entry level through
to Senior Management and I am comfortable dealing with a variety of
roles both specialised and more general.
What differentiates me from many recruiters is my extensive work experience
within the Banking/Finance market. It enables me to more effectively recruit
for clients as I have personally held a variety of roles within the Banking
and Finance sectors. My 8 years of work experience include: Retail/Personal
Banking, Commercial, Centralized Support Centre, International Trade Finance and Sales.
In addition I have worked for 3 years within the Commercial Real Estate Sector.
I hold various qualifications including: Post Graduate Diploma in Banking from
Massey University and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics and Political Studies) from Auckland University.
My interests are varied and include travel, art, reading a good book, socialising
with family and friends, renovating property and going for a relaxing walk on the beach.
About Gavin
I joined Virtue in June 2010 as their specialist Recruiter across the Insurance sector, Wealth Management and Funds Management markets. Prior to joining Virtue, I have had over 9 years relationship/client services experience in Wealth, Financial Planning and Insurance sectors in Australia and New Zealand (including brands such as Sovereign and Macquarie Bank) plus extensive experience in the recruitment industry as a Consultant within a well known brand in the Sydney market.
Recruitment is something I have a passion for and I believe in a win/win for all my roles with clients and candidates. Building long term relationships is crucial to me and I work with a “quality over quantity” ethos. I joined Virtue because I felt this company is not your "average recruitment business" and has an excellent niche market reputation for delivering a quality experience every time, dealing with either clients or candidates. I enjoy working with people at all areas and levels within a business and believe that honesty is the best policy every time.
When not at work, I enjoy playing sport and martial arts, going to the beach , following my sports teams such as the Manly Sea Eagles and the Wallabies, as well as travel and fine dining.
About Steph
I moved back to Auckland from the winterless North in 2010 after being away for 10 years and I am thoroughly enjoying my role at Virtue as a Managing Consultant in the Temporary/Contract Division. It enables me to draw on my previous experience in recruitment and HR whilst focusing intensely on the needs of our temps/contractors. My career as a Recruitment Consultant began with a role in a generalist agency in Whangarei, then I started my own successful boutique agency and more recently I was employed as a Recruitment Manager for a large organisation. Looking for a new challenge I decided to return to my hometown of Auckland and I was warmly welcomed by the team at Virtue.
Listening is what I do best. It’s the only way to ascertain people’s needs and understand their situation. I share my knowledge freely and I have the ability to take a new job from conception to placement stage, providing support throughout the process. Confidentiality and discretion are paramount, so I have chosen to align myself with a team who share my own core values. Recruitment is always so varied and interesting. I especially enjoy interviewing and registering new candidates, hearing about their different experiences and what they plan to achieve. This is essential to correctly ascertain team fit. I plan to continue my research into the current job market and extend my knowledge of the financial world - providing the best possible service; working intelligently to ensure the recruitment solutions are cost effective, user friendly and delivered before the deadline.
When I’m not working I like to unwind with some yoga, spend time with friends and family or play my flute. I hope I will have an opportunity to meet with you in person and if I can’t help I can definitely point you in the right direction.
